- Christie Spronk -
I am a registered social worker with over 25 years experience in the mental health & addiction field. I hold a Criminology Diploma, Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology & a Master's in Social Work with a specialization in Clinical Social Work Practice. I have been registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers since 2006 (#6506) & remain in good standing. I am also grateful to be a part of the Riverwest Therapy Collective, where I see clients in-person.
Throughout my career, I have worked with youth & adults both in outpatient and inpatient settings. I love working with individuals & have a passion for groups. I have worked front line & as a leader throughout my career & always find myself coming back to working directly with clients. I work full time working with members of the RCMP & Canadian Armed Forces & I have been operating my part time private practice since 2023.
I have been married for 20 years and have two teenage daughters and a mini golden doodle. We often spend our time with friends & love watching our daughters play volleyball. I also enjoy reading, hot yoga, listening to podcasts, campfires & crafting.
I use an integrative, collaborative approach utilizing
trauma-informed & person-centered approaches. I draw from a variety of tools, techniques, & approaches to meet individuals where they are are at. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is imperative to create a supportive & non-judgmental space.
I enjoy working with adults with a broad range of concerns. Focusing on areas such as addictions, anxiety, grief, relationship concerns, stress, life transitions, anger, trauma & PTSD. I also work with Veterans, Canadian Armed Forces, & first responders. My approach centers on connection and I believe healing happens when individuals feel seen, heard & valued. This is a supportive space for all genders, orientations, identities, abilities, cultures, & backgrounds.
I encourage you to schedule a complimentary 30-minute session to see if we would be a good fit and to answer any questions you may have about the therapy process.

Evidence-based trauma therapy encompasses therapeutic approaches that have been scientifically validated and shown to be effective in treating trauma-related conditions. These therapies are backed by rigorous research & clinical trials, ensuring their efficacy & safety.
Here are a few that I use:
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
CPT helps individuals process & reframe negative thoughts by challenging unhelpful beliefs & developing balanced perspectives, CPT aids in reducing PTSD symptoms & improving emotional well-being.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
ART is a brief, innovative therapy that integrates techniques from CBT & EMDR. It focuses on reprogramming the way distressing memories are stored in the brain, helping to reduce emotional & physical reactions. ART often provides significant relief in just a few sessions.
Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE)
PE is designed to help individuals confront & process traumatic memories & situations they have been avoiding. It involves repeated, detailed imagining of the trauma & gradual exposure to trauma reminders. This process helps reduce fear & anxiety, leading to improved functioning & quality of life.
These therapies provide individuals with the tools to manage and overcome trauma-related symptoms, facilitating healing and recovery.
CPT and PE are offered virtually or in-person. ART sessions are in-person only.
